Default Any Campaign, Any Profession

I have a question that has been bothering me for a while. Why are players who have selected Assassin, Dervish, Paragon, and Ritualist as a primary or secondary profession for their characters only able to start out in their specific campaign? Why can't an Assassin start out in Presearing Ascalon or a Dervish start out in Shing Jea Monastery if the player owns all three campaigns?
My idea is that all of the professions can start out in any campaign. The only limitation would be that the player has to own the campaign the specific profession is a part of in order to start with that profession in another campaign.

Some of the advantages would be:

1. Increase in replay ability.

2. Help Players retain interest in previous campaigns.

3. Campaign-specific professions (Assassin, Dervish, Paragon, and Ritualist) would have the same level of freedom and would have access to the same opportunities and achievements as the core professions (example: a Paragon/Ritualist would be able to earn the Legendary Defender of Ascalon Title).

4. New character customization options.

5. New items, new armors, new weapons, new skins, new quests, and new NPCs.

For realism, would be my guess, although I understand what you're wanting here.

Think about it, Prophecies has trainers stationed through the entire continent. You can learn just about any skill there without buying it. So what do we do with the non-core professions there? Are they screwed in getting trainers for skill quests, or do we suddenly insert a bunch of NPCs who, the day before the expansion came out, weren't there, through the entire continent?

This would also require the addition of multiple NPCs, quests and lore to encompass it.

And then we'd have to deal with the issue of out-of-expansion skills. Ok, so my Paragon starts in Pre-Searing Ascalon, what skills do we give him access to? We can only learn skills specific to certain chapters within that chapter's continent, so what does the Paragon learn?

If we give them access to Skills from other continents, how do we justify in-character/lore/flavor that my Assassin (with all three chapters) can learn Nightfall skills, but another Assassin (without only Prophecies/Factions) can't.... from the same Quest-givers?

I'm not trying to shoot your idea down, trust me, I've wanted to bring other professions through non-standard chapters as well... but the lore just doesn't support it.

Anet doesn't want to have to revisit and add major things to the two prior games. Adding classes, etc to Prophecies and NIghtfall would require them to do just that. i'll admit I was a little disappointed when I first got Factions and couldn't make a Tyrian assassin, but I understand now why they did it the way they did.

As already said, Anet (rightly) doesnt want to update older campaigns.

If you wanted to start a new Assassin or Dervishin in Prophercies from the very start, Anet would have to update that game to work around them.

Adding their skills to the skill-traders.
Adding their armor and weapons to the traders.
Adding drops for those professions to the creatures.
Adding quests for those professions to follow to unlock skills and weapons.

If you concider making those updates through all 3 campaigns, from the start to the finish. That is alot of work to be done. We just simply done need it.

It also makes sense that only certain professions can be trained in certain continents, because they fit around that storyline.

And you are perfectly capable of taking an Assassin, Ritualist, Dervish, etc etc, back to Tyria and working your way backwards.

Its also a sales technique to make you buy those campaigns to get access to those characters! A good one at that!

Assassins and Ritualists are pure Canthan tradition, and so it would make no sense for them to be available in Tyria/Elona, etc. Same thing for Paragons and Dervishes.

The core proffessions fit Tyria
Sin and rit fit Cantha
Para and derv fit Elona

Doesn't really make sence to add them to all or they loose thier uniquie feel

There are Assassin and Ritualists bosses and weapon drops in Elona...

That's suspicious...

I don't really care about where they are made.
But Assassin, Ritualist, Paragon and Dervish drops should be given to all campaings.

It's not fair that you can get Assassin daggers in Elona, but not in Tyria.

This has been suggested many many times before. And every time the answer is the same: the 4 non-core professions are specific to the culture of their campaign. It would not make sense for one to be able to start an assassin in Pre Ascalon.

This will never happen because it would require months of work on the older campaigns adding armors, weapons and bosses. Gaile has commented quite a few times on this issue.

Furthermore, keeping the 4 non-core professions specific to their own campaigns is a marketing tool to get people to buy faction/nightfall.
